There is beginning to be a burgeoning demand in certain settings for yoga therapy. Now the big question becomes...what is so different about yogatherapy compared to the yoga class you may already attend. Well the first thing is that the yoga therapy teacher should be well trained with training and experience beyond a traditional yoga teacher in some cases 1000 hours or more of training vs 200 for a traditional teacher. A certified yoga therapist has been trained to deal with very specific health issues and generally may have expertise with certain health issues.Since the yoga industry is becomimg more regulated with more emphasis on certification and training, it is becoming easier to check out the credentials of your teacher. Yoga alliance, among others for certified yoga teachers and International Association of Yoga Therapists for certified yoga therapists.Another big part of the equation is that the yoga therapist should be getting to know you and what your precise needs and wants are for this program. Finally you should feel that this particular yoga therapist is specifically outlining a program for you, that would treat and heal all levels of your body, and in yoga therapy that means all the koshas(more on that topic later) If that sounds like an appealing style of practice for the type of issue you may be dealing with ....Check out a yoga therapist!
